What is NameCoach?
NameCoach is a service that allows members of the Stanford community to voice record the pronunciation of their names and clarify the honorifics people should use to refer to them.
The audio pronunciations and honorifics are made available throughout online campus systems so that users can easily access the information. The purpose of NameCoach is to facilitate respect and inclusion within the campus community.
How does it work?
To record your name and enter honorifics, log into Axess (student role) > My Information > NameCoach.
Follow the prompts to voice record and enter the appropriate honorifics. Once your information is entered, it is immediately available throughout campus systems in which NameCoach is integrated. These include Canvas, class rosters, and as of December 11, 2023, Stanford Who for users who are authenticated. The recordings are not available publicly in Stanford Who.
