Tuition Grants & Remission
These funding sources are not common and usually apply to Stanford faculty and staff (and their dependents) or to university faculty, staff, and dependents from other academic institutions. These funding programs do not invoice the sponsoring institution.
Employer-based Tuition Benefits from Outside Institutions
If you are eligible for an employer-based tuition benefit – sometimes called “tuition grant,” “tuition remission” or “tuition assistance” – awarded by a non-Stanford institution, report your grant to the Stanford Financial Aid Office. Reporting your grant helps ensure that it is correctly routed and applied to your student account.
Here’s how:
Undergraduate students: Report your tuition grant as an “outside award.” For more information and detailed instructions, visit the Financial Aid website.
Graduate students: Report your tuition grant as an expected outside award in the Anticipated Resources section of your Graduate Application. Or, if you receive outside awards after you have filed your application, report your tuition grant to the Financial Aid Office via Axess. For detailed instructions, visit the section for “Outside Awards for Graduate Students” on this Financial Aid webpage.
Stanford Tuition Reimbursement Program (STRP)
STRP supports Stanford staff development by providing partial or full payment of tuition and covered fees for courses meeting requirements of undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
You can find all details, including eligibility, application and reimbursement process, FAQ and contact information on this webpage of the Cardinal at Work website.
