What is a Diploma Hold and How Do I Get it Released?

Diplomas are distributed only if you have satisfied all your university academic and financial obligations. If you have any unmet obligations to the university, you will not receive a diploma until the obligation is fulfilled.

Past Due Account Balance

Your diploma can be held if you have a balance due on your student account. Make sure your student account is paid in full to ensure that you receive your diploma. 

Email communications are sent to all students with past due balances informing them when a financial hold will be placed. You can also view all of your holds in Axess. 

The deadline to pay your balance for spring conferral candidates is the Wednesday prior to Commencement.

Order Your Diploma After Your Hold Is Released

To order your diploma after your hold has been released, submit a help request.

• By submitting this request, your diploma will be ordered and mailed.
• If you are receiving more than one degree, indicate each degree in this request.
