You can apply a maximum of 45 quarter units of advanced testing credit or coursework transfer credit toward your undergraduate degree. If you are considering applying for credit for IB exams, you should be aware of the following:
- Only higher-level IB exams of the scores and subjects listed below are eligible for undergraduate units. Standard-level (SL) subject tests are not accepted.
- Scores of 5 or higher on language IB exams fulfill the language requirement.
- Stanford may remove units for IB work from your record if your subsequent Stanford coursework duplicates IB credit course content. Likewise, courses taken below the level of placement are considered duplicating courses.
- You may not be awarded credit for more than one exam in the same subject type (excluding language and physics subject areas). If you submit multiple qualifying exam scores for the same subject, the single exam awarding you the greatest possible number of units will be posted.
- Please see "How Do I Add Credit by Exam to My Record?" for more information on how to send your scores to Stanford, and how we receive and process your IB scores.
