2020-21 Tuition Rates

Regular quarterly tuition for the academic year 2020-21, payable Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer quarters. For tuition for next year, see the Tuition and Fees, 2021-22 web page.

*Ph.D. students in the Biomedical Sciences and in the Graduate School of Business are assessed the standard graduate tuition rate.

Undergraduate per credit hour rate is $1232.73

MSx: M.S. in Management for Experienced Leaders (GSB): tbd (annual, 4 quarters, Summer 2020 through Spring 2021)

TGR students who carry 1, 2, or 3 units are assessed the TGR rate of $3,531

Graduate: $1,177/unit (less than 8)

Graduate Engineering: $1,254/unit (less than 8)

PostDoc Fee: $125

Graduation Quarter: $150

Campus Health Services Fee: $232

VSR monthly fee: $1,177

Document fee

A Document Fee of $250 is assessed once upon first admission to Stanford as an undergraduate or graduate student, including Law, GSB, and Medicine students. Non-degree option (NDO) students, such as summer session and non-degree seeking SCPD students, are assessed a $125 Document Fee.

Tuition and Fees for 2020-21

Some or all instruction for all or part of academic year 2020-21 may be delivered remotely. Tuition and mandatory fees have been set regardless of the method of instruction and will not be refunded in the event instruction occurs remotely for any part of the academic year.

Special Tuition Rates for Undergraduates, 2020-21

Stanford students are expected to be fully engaged in their academic programs so that they can complete their undergraduate degrees in four years. Hence, undergraduates are expected to carry a full-time academic load of at least 12 units per quarter and to pay the requisite regular tuition rate. Less than full-time study, and consequently reduced tuition, may be permitted in the categories specified below. The Registrar, in consultation with the Subcommittee on Academic Standing, is responsible for approving each request to register for less than a full-time academic load.

Special Tuition Rates for Graduate Students, 2020-21

Matriculated graduate students are expected to register at the full-tuition rate applicable to their degree program unless they are in the final stages of their degree programs and therefore in a special reduced tuition category. Eligible categories are listed below. See Special Registration Statuses for Graduate and Professional Students for eligibility.

Students in the Stanford Law School, Graduate School of Business, or in the M.D. program in the School of Medicine should consult appropriate school officers about tuition reduction eligibility.
